Debbie Standerski is the owner of The Wholesome Cupboard. She has been a Registered Nurse for 33 years. After working all of these years in the areas of critical care, long term care, emergency medicine, home care, hospice wound care, and supervision, she decided to open a specialty food market.
One of her favorite parts of being a registered nurse is the area of education.
Educating the public empowers them. Education gives people the knowledge to get well, stay well and prevent illness. Over the years, “I have encountered so many people that have been given a diagnosis of what is wrong with them but they are not given the information that they need to live, to feel better, or to fully recover.” One of the main things that she has seen resulting in re-hospitalization and poor response to medical treatment is
the patient's insufficient knowledge relating to nutrition and diet.
“What a patient puts into their body is a major determining factor in how they feel and how they heal." She wants to help people in this way. The Wholesome Cupboard is a store that will be able to meet the dietary needs of people with restrictions and special requirements with a large Gluten-free area and an area of allergy free foods, low and no sodium foods, raw foods, vegan foods, natural products, no carb, organic and non-gmo foods.
Shopping at The Wholesome Cupboard frequently saves people from having to drive great distances or order on-line and having to pay shipping charges.
